TSU Professors’ and Students’ participation in Workshop on Legal Clinics in Batumi, September 26-28

On September 26-28, in Batumi, British clinical expert Richard Grimes of the University of York, UK and American lawyer Lusine Hovhannisian of the Public Interest Law Network (PILNET), based in New York, conducted the workshop for representatives from the five university legal clinics functioning in Georgia. The workshop organized by JILEP was aimed at improvement of legal clinics’ functioning in Georgia. Among other representatives were Sophio Chachava an academic director of NCADR and an intern of NCADR – Tiko Javakhishvili as a student of master’s program. TSU was represented by 3 professors and 2 students.
The participants attended the event and exchanged experiences, planned forms and perspectives of future cooperation. During the workshop, participants were taught models of live-client clinic organization, they made interactive simulations and discussed real cases.
TSU professors who attended the training will implement received experience in teaching process. Obtained knowledge will greatly contribute to TSU students’ academic success regarding that clinical component is offered to them in this academic semester.
TSU Mediation clinic is organized on the basis of Tbilisi City Hall clinic and 10 ECTS is dedicated to it in educational program. At the starting level 4 professors from Kim Kovach’s June’s training are involved in mediation clinic: Sophio Chachava, Nata Sturua, Aleksandre Tsuladze and Tamar Khatiashvili. Full conception of mediation clinic will be explained and demonstrated for the next reporting period.
