International Conference “Current Trends of Mediation Development”

Tbilisi State University National Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution (NCADR) organized international conference “Current Trends of Mediation Development” based on common initiative and signed memorandum by United States Agency for International Development (USAID), South Texas College of Law (STCL), corporation “East West Management Institute” (EWMI) and it’s program “The Judicial Independence and Legal empowerment Project (JILEP).
Training was held in Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University’s first academic building ( room #06) on November 6-8.
Conference main goal was to support Mediation- means of alternative dispute resolution in Georgia. Mediation is a great opportunity for opposite parties to solve their dispute in favorable environment with help of mediator, this will cost less money and time for parties and will improve business environment.
Lectures were made by recognized professors in the field of Mediation: Todd Nicol (Pepperdine University; The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution; USA), Ales Zalar (European Center for Dispute Resolution, ex-minister of Justice, Slovenia), Stephanie Bell (Pepperdine University; The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution; USA), Christof Berlin ( Oxford University, Humbolt University, Germany) Michael Tsur ( Jerusalem Center for Mediation and Dispute Resolution, Hebreu University, Israel) Kimberlee Kovach ( South Texas College of Law, Frank Evance Dispute Resolution Center, USA) Elizabeth Dennis(South Texas College of Law, USA)
During international Conference, Georgian practitioners Aleksandre Tsuladze (Ministry of Justice) and Irakli Kandashvili(Council and Mediator) also presented their reports. With a help of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) International Conference was supported by Ivane javakhishvili Tbiisi State University, International Finance Corporatio(IFC), World Bank Group member and German Academy for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Conference language was English.
